MORE SILVERWARE FOR YORKSHIRE LIONS U9’s IN SCISSET TOURNAMENT!!!
The Yorkshire Lions were Runners Up in the Division 1 League and also WON the "FAIR PLAY AWARD" for playing outstanding football and showing great discipline at his weekends Tournaments. Goals from Theo, Kyle, Konnah and Cameron saw the Lions win all 3 league games to take them into the Division 1 group where the Lions then ended up Runners up losing to the Eventual Winners " Dalton " 2-1 in the final game. Brilliant Performances from all the squad Kyle (C), Theo, Cameron, Jahmal Lewis, Theo and Donae made an excellent 3 straight wins possible. The "MAN OF THE TOURNAMENT" was Cameron Sandhu who played his 1st full tournament and gave a great defenders performance ....not bad for being the youngest player on the pitch!!! U9's UNLUCKY AGAIN IN SEMI FINALS OF BRADFORD FA TOURNAMENT Another amazing performance from the under 9's saw the young lions win 5 games in a row and win the A Group League unbeaten. WON 5 GAMES IN THE LEAGUE AND WERE WINNERS OF THE LEAGUE FORMAT BEATING THE EVENTUAL WINNERS "BRADFORD ALBION " along the WAY Semi Final - 0 - 0 FT, Lost 5-4 after Sudden Penalties Having been unbeaten all day and not looking like they could get beaten in open play ...the curse of the penalties struck and the lions were knocked out by a sudden death penalty shootout. Great Performance again by the Lions U10's A Miss out on Semi Final Place by 1 point- WELLDONE LADS
!!! ROARING "YOUNG" YORKSHIRE LIONS U9's RUNNERS UP IN BRADFORD PARK AVE TOURNAMENT!!!
What a great day for Yorkshire Lions that the youngest age group made the final of the Bradford Park Avenue Tournament.
The whole team had an excellent day being Winners of the Tough League 1 format around then going on to win the Semi Finals against one of the Tournament Favourites and getting into the Finals against the Favourites BD3 Utd.
Along the way the young lions showed the home team Bradford Park Ave that no matter how many Academy players were playing the Young Lions were not going down easy in any match. Squad- Kyle (C), Jahmal Lewis, Rajan, Konnah, Yousuf, Theo and Fiazan all played an excellent part in the team success.
Game 1 - Lions Vs Liversedge - WON 2-0. Goals from Kyle gave the lions the win; the lions had chances from Fiazan, Theo and Yousuf saved by their keeper
Game 2 - Lions Vs Shipley A - WON 2-1. Goals from Theo and Kyle set up another win for the lions the lions had chances from Fiazan, Rajan and Yousuf saved by their keeper
Game 3 - Lions Vs Bradford Park Ave A - WON 3 - 1 - Great comeback from being 1 goal down the lions roared back with Goals from Theo, Kyle and Konnah (defence) secured the Semi Final place.
Game 4 - Lions Vs Queensbury A -DREW 1-1 - A brilliant team performance where both teams had great chances to win this game. The lions were leading until the last minute when a lucky goal brought the game level. More chances for goals came from Fiazan, Theo and Yousuf saved by their keeper
Game 5 - Lions Vs YMCA A - DREW 0-0
The Lions ended up being Winners of this Tough A team group!!!
Semi Final - Lions Vs Queensbury - WON AET 4-2 on penalties - Great team performance by all the team. One moment stood out here for me and that was the great tackle that Konnah made to stop a certain goal being scored by the opposition...that would have knocked the lions out in the semi final stage. The score tied after full time was also tied after extra time and Penalties!!!
2 Great penalties saves from Jahmal Lewis and penalty goals from Kyle, Theo and Konnah set up a tense winning penalty to be scored by Rajan to take us to the final.
THE Final - Lions Vs BD3 Utd - The lions did their best and went down fighting 3-1 in the Final. A great performance from all the team and a great day for the YORKSHIRE LIONS and U9's
